Beat.box

I completed this project as part of my UX/UI design course for General Assembly. We were tasked with developing a website for the company Beat.box, a music generator like Spotify or Pandora that wanted to become the leading platform in music streaming.

Moodboard and Wireframes

Because Beat.box's model was centered around personalization and individuality, I wanted their website to feel dynamic and unexpected. I used shades and tints of purple and bright red to underscore their mission of of vibrancy and uniqueness.

The 18-24 age group represents 45% of all music streaming users, so I also wanted to create a platform that spoke to the energy and lifestyle of that age demographic, which is reflected in the images and color palette of the mood board and website I designed.

Logo

For this logo, I wanted to create something that was unmistakeable, simplistic, and dynamic. I incorporated sound waves to underscore that this was a music and sound platform.

The tints and shades of the box I drew illustrate the spectrum of sound. The box resting on it's corner gives a sense of anticipation and the potential for a new direction.

I also intentionally placed the sound waves on the exterior of the box as a nod to "out of the box" thinking as a way to highlight Beat.box's ingenuity.

Final Product

The final product included elements requested by the client, including a survey button that a new user would be prompted to complete when first visiting the app.

There are suggested playlists based on activities that the primary age demographic of this client noted interest in, which would update after the user completed the survey based on their input.

The end result of this client project was a fun and engaging platform for users who want to regularly provide feedback and receive updated music based on their preferences.
